There is power in Working Together in Partnership and Collaboration for girls to reach their full potential. Last week we held our Hikers reflection and get together and it was hosted by our Partners Women Probono Initiative. This presented an opportunity for our 2023 Hikers to share their experiences, stories, give feedback and recommendations.
Our 2023 Hiking event which was our 6th edition brought together 25 organisations and 48 Hikers who joined us to Hike for Girls in Kisoro District – Mt Sabinyo. The main aim of the Hike is to create awareness and break stigma around Menstruation. This Year we are able to support 150 girls at Mulamba Primary School who did not only receive sanitary products but also information on how to manage their periods and keep clean at all time.
The get together gave us the opportunity to listen to the experiences of different Hikers and why they made a decision to join the campaign to End Menstrual Stigma. It is even more transformational to have men and boys as part of the campaign because only them can we break the stigma completely.
We appreciate everyone that have walked this journey with us since 2017 when we started our very firt Hike. We hve never looked back and the girls we have supported will not remain the same by all means. Our 2024 Hiking event will happen in July and all the other details will be shared in due course.
