Raising Teenagers Uganda partnered with Action Youth for Development to launch the Climate
Justice campaign in Kashaka Girls’ Secondary School, Mbarara district. The campaign aims at
raising awareness about climate change and build a movement of girls advocating for climate justice
and sustainable green environments.
The campaign is building capacities of girls to take up space and lead transformative change in their
communities. Some of the activities conducted by girls include; tree planting, climate education and
poetry on climate justice.
Sustainable communities can only be built when girls and women are meaningfully engaged in
climate justice interventions and decision making and acknowledging that Gender- responsive
climate and environmental action is key in advancing girls and women’s climate resilience and
leadership at grassroot, national and international levels.
