A DAY OF SELF CARE AT THE GIRAFFE CENTER NAIROBI, KENYA

At Raising Teenagers Uganda, we believe that caring for others begins with caring for ourselves. True impact starts from a healthy, happy and inspired team and that’s exactly what our recent self-care experience in Nairobi, Kenya was all about on 25th October, 2025.

Our team took some well-deserved time off to unwind and reconnect at the Giraffe Centre, one of Kenya’s most loved conservation spaces. The day was filled with laughter, light conversations and unforgettable memories. We had the joy of feeding the giraffes and one friendly giraffe named Betty became everyone’s favorite. It was such a heartwarming experience to connect with nature, feed these gentle giants and capture beautiful pictures that will forever remind us of this special day. This was after spending days at the Lightup Impact Conference which brought together over 100 grassroots organisations from around East Africa under the theme; Let Youth Lead-

That time was a moment of mental refreshment and emotional renewal. Sometimes, the best way to keep serving our communities with passion is to pause, breathe and refill our own cups. The visit reminded us that work without play and self-care is not healthy for any team, that joy, laughter and togetherness are powerful tools for productivity and purpose.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Team Leader Hope Nankunda, for always looking out for our happiness and wellbeing. Her leadership continually reminds us that compassion starts from within. May God bless her abundantly for her kindness, mentorship and commitment to seeing us thrive both personally and professionally.

As we reflect on our time in Nairobi, one thing stands out “a refreshed team is a stronger team.” We return renewed, inspired and ready to continue empowering teenagers across the world with love, purpose and positive energy.
