EMPOWERING YOUNG WOMEN AND TEENAGE MOTHERS THROUGH SKILLING

Skilling is Transformational and we are happy to support Youth mothers at Love Alive Uganda to acquire skills in Tailoring, Hairdressing and Bakery. Last week we joined them to celebrate significant milestones at their graduation ceremony. The event was a testament to the power of empowerment, skill building and community support in transforming lives. This program focuses on equipping young women with practical skills like tailoring, hairdressing, soap making and other income generating activities. These skills are designed to help participants gain economic independence, rebuild their lives and support their families. The ceremony was not just a celebration of skills acquired but also of resilience, determination and hope restored.

Raising Teenagers Uganda supports these teen mothers with programs around life skills developments and psychosocial support services and it’s amazing to be part of this transformative journey and witnessing these young women graduate, many of whom began their paths with little hope, was both inspiring and fulfilling. These young women and girls have been empowered with tools to create a brighter future for themselves and their children.

Our team leader, Hope Nankunda in her remarks during the ceremony emphasized the power of philanthropy. She encouraged the congregants to share the little they have with someone in need, reminding everyone that small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact on someone’s life. Philanthropy starts with a generous heart and the willingness to uplift others and by sharing the little you have with them, you transform lives and create change in the community. For the graduates, this moment marked the climax of months of hard work, perseverance and personal growth. It was a joyful celebration of their achievements and a powerful reminder that with support and determination, positive change is possible.

As Raising Teenagers Uganda continues to advocate for the empowerment of young women, we celebrate the achievements of these teenage mothers and young women and encourage them to remain focused, determined and hopeful. This graduation is just the beginning and we believe that these young women will go on to achieve even greater success in their lives
