Safety is not just a rule we follow; it is a promise we make to the families waiting for us at home and the communities we serve with every journey. A Walk for Life and Leadership On 16th May 2026, we had the honour of joining Joe Walker and his dedicated team and partners for a powerful Boda Boda Safety Walk. This initiative was an act of intentional action and a commitment to serving others by raising vital awareness about road safety. By bringing together road safety advocates, community members and boda boda riders, the event showcased the type of restoration and collaboration needed to protect lives on Uganda’s roads.
Throughout the journey, the team made several intentional stopovers at boda stages to engage riders in meaningful conversations. These discussions focused on the life-saving importance of wearing helmets correctly, observing speed limits and avoiding dangerous practices like crossing the “Teekawo line.” This approach reflects a deep commitment to nurturing people and strengthening leadership ecosystems ensuring that those who provide essential transport services are also empowered to lead with wisdom and care. By taking the message directly to the riders, the walk provided an opportunity for them to pause, reflect and renew their sense of responsibility toward themselves and their passengers.
The most heartening part of the day was seeing the riders themselves actively participate, ask questions and commit to safer road practices. This shift in mindset is a courageous step toward shaping a better future for generations to come as it moves us away from reckless habits and toward a culture of mutual respect. Their willingness to engage proves that meaningful change can flourish when we work together with dedication.
Every safe decision made on the road has the power to prevent tragedy and protect a family’s legacy. As we celebrate the success of this walk, we recognize it as part of a larger journey that promises growth and lasting influence for all road users. We are building a stronger culture of accountability, proving that when leadership is guided by a genuine desire to serve, we can create a world where every life is truly valued.
