Seeds of greatness were sown on a sunny day in Namayumba where the voices of our youth rang out with newfound purpose. On May 20th, 2026, Raise Up A Child Primary School successfully hosted our Holiday Mentorship Camp that brought together school pupils and student from the surrounding community for a day of inspiration. This gathering created a safe and welcoming environment where young people felt comfortable interacting with mentors and gaining vital knowledge to help them make positive life choices. It was truly encouraging to witness the children actively participating, asking insightful questions and sharing their personal thoughts and experiences.
A core focus of the camp was providing guidance on building healthy relationships and mastering essential life skills through engaging mentorship sessions. Mentors shared wisdom on topics such as confidence, discipline and effective communication ensuring every child felt equipped to set and achieve meaningful goals. These open discussions also addressed the challenges of peer pressure, helping learners understand how to resist negative influences while making decisions that align with their dreams. By encouraging self-awareness, the mentors reminded the youth that their circumstances do not define them and that they possess the power to overcome any obstacle.
In celebration of International Menstruation Hygiene Management Day 2026, the camp dedicated significant time to serious conversations regarding menstrual hygiene management. These sessions, which included both boys and girls focused on breaking barriers and reducing stigma to promote dignity and confidence among young girls. Mentors provided education on body cleanness, emotional wellbeing and body changes emphasizing the importance of treating one another with empathy and respect. To further support menstrual dignity, sanitary pads were distributed to help ensure that no girl misses out on her education or opportunities because of her period.
The impact of the day served as a powerful reminder that when children are given the right support and guidance, they become more hopeful and confident in their limitless potential. True confidence is believing in one’s ability to learn and grow despite challenges. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the teachers, mentors and community members who contributed to making this impactful event so memorable. Together, we remain steadfast in our commitment to creating safe spaces that nurture and empower young leaders for the bright future that needs their courage.
