At Raising Teenagers Uganda (RTU) caring for others is at the heart of everything we do and recently, the organization turned the focus inward with a self-care session designed just for staff which was a reminder that we need time to rest, reflect and recharge.
The session followed a creative theme called “RACE • PLAY • MORE” a fun and simple approach to help the team reconnect with themselves and each other. The idea is that when we slow down, we give our minds a chance to think clearly, process emotions and find new energy.
Why This Self-Care Activity Was Important
When staff feel mentally well, they can show up fully for the community they support.
The session created space for team members to laugh, move and share in a relaxed environment. This builds stronger relationships and improves communication back at work.
Raising Teenagers Uganda teaches young people about self-love and balance; it is important when staff also practice what they teach. It shows that self-care is not just a message, it’s a lifestyle. We believe that taking care of the team is part of long-term growth.
A healthy motivated team is better able to serve others and they are committed to creating a work environment where wellness is a priority not an afterthought.
“We give self-care the time it deserves because it gives us the strength to keep going,”
