On 29th October 2025, we led a team of partners of the Wezesha Girls Network – Uganda to The Olive School Namugongo for the Post International Day of the Girl Child 2025 celebration. The visit was a beautiful moment of learning and inspiration as we engaged with young learners through mentorship and life changing conversations.
It was nice to hear different partners sharing words of encouragement on discipline, timekeeping, respect, self-belief and the value of education. The pupils were also encouraged to eat healthy, make positive choices and dream boldly, reminders that small daily habits shape great futures.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the school administration for welcoming us and allowing us to share this moment with their learners. By opening its doors to mentorship, the school demonstrated that empowering young minds begins with creating opportunities for exposure and inspiration.
One of the most powerful moments of the day was a conversation about the importance of reading. Pupils were challenged to read at least one story every month, a small yet transformative step toward developing curiosity and critical thinking. Reading opens the mind, broadens perspective and nurtures a lifelong love for learning.
As part of our day’s activities, we also planted trees and handed over seedlings to the school, a gesture symbolizing our commitment to environmental sustainability. Each tree planted represents hope and responsibility, a reminder that #DoingGood can be as simple as planting a tree or caring for your surroundings. These trees will serve as living lessons in sustainability for the learners.
This outreach reaffirmed our belief that mentorship and environmental action go hand in hand in building a better future. By nurturing both minds and the planet, we inspire a generation that is thoughtful, responsible and driven to make positive change.
We take a moment to celebrate the co-founders of Wezesha Girls Network-Uganda, whose bold vision continues to inspire and connect grassroots organizations across the country. Their dream of empowering local initiatives has grown into a vibrant network where collaboration thrives, ideas are shared and impact is multiplied.
Your leadership reminds us that big dreams can transform communities when backed by unity, purpose and persistence because of your dedication, many small organizations now have a platform to learn and grow their work creating seen effects of change in the communities that need it most.
We continue to ignite potential, nurture leadership and shape the next generation of changemakers. When we invest in young minds, we invest in the future of our nation.
